Heat 102, Rockets 112 : Dwyane Wade went down with a shoulder injury and was carted off in a wheel chair, scaring most of the people in Miami and making Pat Riley suddenly contemplate whether he’s really ready to return, or wait out a little longer, at least until he knows Wade’s expected recovery time. In other news, the Heat lost, thanks to T-Mac’s 32 point scorching.
Spurs 103, Hawks 96: That run the Hawks had just before the All Star break. . . that glimmer of hope is probably all they’re going to give the people of Atlanta for at least another year. I’m never too optimistc about this team, but this year they kinda fooled me. Manu Ginobli scored 40 points, 24 of those points coming in a row. That’s right. He scored 24 straight points. I thought I read it wrong, too.
Knicks 84, 76′ers 104: My NBA Lines went 0-3 last night, and thanks in part goes to the lovely folks of New York, who decided to play one of the worst teams in the league and lay a total egg. Kyle Korver scored 31 points, and was 6-7 from three-point land.
Cavs 86, Raptors 85: It’s a minor set back for a team that’s been hot, but with Toronto’s reputation for losing, a last-second home-loss like this can kind of be deflating. We’ll see how the team bounces back; then again, in the East, bouncing back isn’t all that necessary.
Orlando 88, Detroit 110: Dwight Howard had 26 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn’t nearly enough. On a sad note, in his return to Detroit, Darko Milicic looked more like the Darko Milicic that Detroit drafted and traded.
Hornets 111, Nets 107: I find it odd that just two days ago I bet against the Hornets, and said that I was betting against them because they hadn’t won a road game in over three months. Now they’ve won two in a row. This game might have marked the last time New Jersey fans see Kidd in a Nets uniform.
Bobcats 100, T’Wolves 95: Adam Morrison had 26 points. He’s so ugly, but I’ve got to root for this guy in the NBA — he’s a good player, and it’d be sad if he was only remembered as “the guy with tears streaming down his face while there’s still a ballgame to be played.” It was funny, yeah, but you gotta feel a little bad for him.
Celtics 108, Suns 118: Well, that’s two straight losses for the Celtics. I was morbidly depressed when they ended the 17-game losing streak, but have hope for another monumental run of lousiness that only Danny Ainge could put together.
Grizzlies 115, Warriors 118: Mike Miller scored 45 points, but he scored those points for a team that’s not going to capitalize on many great efforts by an individual. Stephen Jackson led the Warriors with 26. He’s fit in much better with Golden State than Troy Murphy or Mike Dunleavy have in Indiana.
Trail Blazers 112, Lakers 108: The Lakers are in a rut. I don’t know if the answer is to go sign Scottie Pippen, but something has to happen. Jarrett Jack, one of my personal favorites, led the Trail Blazers with 30 points.
